The prestigious Food Matters Live Awards has introduced two brand new categories for 2020 to recognise outstanding teamwork, collaboration and innovation in the food and drink industry.

The new ‘Food Innovation Team of the Year’ and ‘Drink Innovation Team of the Year’ awards will celebrate the combined excellence of teams working together to drive inspirational new products across the industry.

Food Matters Live director Briony Mansell-Lewis said: “In a year which has thrown the food industry unprecedented challenges, never before have teamwork and collaborative thinking been so important.

The Team of the Year awards will enable companies to acknowledge and reward colleagues who have gone above and beyond in these exceptional times.”

‘Instrumental to our success’

These new categories are an exciting addition to Food Matters Live Awards, which celebrate the very best of the global food and drink sector by recognising innovative new products, inspiring sustainability and healthy eating campaigns through to pioneering science and technology developments.

Previous winners include Nourished, whose 3D printed bespoke tablets won Best Food Tech Innovation of the Year in 2019. Founder Melissa Snove said winning the award was an incredible experience: “This Award is absolutely instrumental to our success, and it means a massive pat on the back for months and months of hard work.”

Inspiring virtual pitches

The 2020 awards will be judged by a distinguished panel of industry experts and insiders including Dr Megan Rossi (The Gut Health Doctor), Nick Bennett (Head of Nutrition, Brunel Healthcare), Michelle Berriedale-Johnson (Founder and Editor, Foods Matter) and Wan Mak (Head of Nutrition and Dietetics, Sodexo UK & Ireland).

Taking place virtually for the first time in 2020, the awards feature an exciting ‘Dragons Den’ type format, enabling shortlisted companies to pitch their product, brand or initiative directly to the judging panel, receiving instant feedback and advice.

Each shortlisted entry will also feature on a dedicated online showcase page used by global buyers, influencers and food industry professionals to discover new food and drink innovations. They will also receive a listing in the Food Matters Live 2020 digital event preview, plus social media promotion and a feature on the Food Matters Live website.

Winning entrants will be invited to Food Matters Live 2021 to display their award-winning products in front of buyers and key stakeholders at London’s 5-star O2 InterContinental. Winners will also be featured in our popular Table Talk podcast series which goes directly to thousands of industry professionals and across our digital and social media channels.
